As an African-American, I was taught to believe that I am inferior in intellect, work ethic, and virtue. I was programmed to place my race and person at the bottom of society. While my people and others of African descent made significant contributions to the world, most of our history has been systematically whitewashed. From the bible to Egypt, history books and movies use white perspectives and images to erase the achievements of my people. How could society see me as an equal if it believes that I am incapable of contributing anything good? Due to this miseducation, we, the undersigned, urge our leaders to pass legislation to mandate that African history be thought in every American school, from an impartial perspective.
